On the slope

You step out, and you're on the slope

The ski storage opens about ten metres from the Glacier Express lift. No shuttle, no eight-hundred-metre walk in ski boots. Cross-country tracks start from roughly the same spot.

Two ski passes come with the apartment, valid for your whole stay. Two of you can be on the lift before anyone has queued for a ticket.

The apartment is on the ground floor, which matters more than it sounds: no stairs with gear, a pram, or children who have run out of energy.

Hot tub and sauna a bonus, and helped us defrost when it got down to −27 degrees.

Brilliantly kitted out kitchen… a drying closet for outer clothes after being out in the snow. It was amazing value for money too.

Not only winter

Levi is busiest from November to April, but the apartment is open all year.

September brings the ruska, when the fells turn red and gold and the trails are empty. Summer nights barely get dark. The same fells you ski in winter are for hiking and mountain biking in July.

And the hot tub makes just as much sense in August as it does at minus twenty. There's air conditioning for the warm weeks, which is rarer up here than you'd think.
